FoCo Speaks Out
Limited Capacity seats available

Last year, on December 6th, an event took place at Bas Bleu called FoCo Speaks Out!  It blended thought leaders with local artists and was billed as the art of social justice.  The theatre has 116 seats but almost 200 people attended.
What happened?
Community members were riveted for 90 minutes as local voices invited the packed audience to think about and respond to the places of brokenness and hope in Northern Colorado.  Each of the performers uniquely touched the heart in a way that amplified the speaker’s messages.
And what was most surprising is that the audience left inspired and wanting more.
You can check out more information at: www.focospeaksout.org
Today the question is… what’s next for FoCo Speaks Out!?
That’s where you come in.  You are invited to this unique entrepreneur brainstorming session that needs your minds to take this start up venture to the next level.  Join us to watch a live workshop performance of FoCo Speaks Out! and then engage in creative problem solving that aims to elevate this event so it can alter the social and cultural landscape of acceptance and inclusion in Fort Collins.  You might even want to get involved.

Artspace Report
Come hear the results of the FoCo Artspace survey!

On Feb. 26, Artspace, a national nonprofit real estate developer for the arts, will make a community presentation to report findings from the affordable creative sector housing and workspace surveys it conducted in Fort Collins.

Last year, Artspace invited individuals, organizations and businesses in the arts, cultural and creative communities to participate in an online affordable housing and workspace survey. Artspace representatives will present results from these surveys from 5:30-7 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Lincoln Center Columbine Room, 417 W. Magnolia St. Light refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 6 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the community.

The presentation will summarize data about how much housing and workspace the local arts/creative community may be able to use and what design features and amenities are desired.

The survey was part of a process the City of Fort Collins, Fort Collins Downtown Development Authority and Bohemian Foundation initiated to help the community assess the feasibility of developing affordable spaces where artists/creatives of all disciplines may live and work and arts/cultural organizations and creative businesses can thrive.

About Artspace
Artspace is the nation’s leader in artist-led community transformation, with 46 projects in operation across the country and another dozen in development, representing a $600 million investment in America’s arts infrastructure. How can a client experience your creative solution before you’ve even built it? How can we identify user issues at the beginning of a project instead of at the end? The answer is prototyping.

Come join us on Tuesday, February 27, as UX designer Jens Nikolaus presents about "prototyping as a mindset." He will discuss different reasons why prototyping is a good tool to have in your tool belt -- whether you are a designer or business owner. He will also present specific case studies from a designer’s point of view, using prototyping tools and processes, to highlight the power of prototyping for effective communication.

Complimentary drinks and appetizers will be served at 5:45pm. Presentation will start at 6:00pm. RSVP today! Learn more about Fort Collins Startup Week here: https://fortcollins.startupweek.co/.

Whether you’re a new founder or a seasoned entrepreneur with a thriving startup, knowing the secrets of investor due diligence will help you build a great company. For those savvy founders, knowing what an investor wants in advance will make you stand out from the crowd.

Before writing a check, investors ask founders questions, conduct research, and speak with their networks to gauge the potential of your startup. Planning & Distributing Music Videos
Limited Capacity seats available

This collaborative edition of Musician’s Help Desk is part of the 2018 NoCoMuVi Music Video Accelerator public workshop series!

Davis Powers (Music Producer/Booker for Last Call with Carson Daly) will be leading the conversation on creating and promoting your music video. Topics will include:
1. Budgeting for Music Videos: What comes first the idea or the budget? We can look at the average budget allocations for an indie artist, an indie label artist, and a major label artist and how that effects the creative. Also what to do when you have no budget. We could examine examples of videos from each level.
2. What does having a “premiere partner” really mean? These are the dreaded words of every publicist. We can discuss getting your video placed online and the value of pursuing such placement.
3. Creating a visual brand for you music: What does that mean and how does that pertain to your music? How to make content an essential part of your music’s DNA.

First Friday Opening Reception Borrowed Light with The Social Animals
Limited Capacity filling up

First Friday Opening Reception Gallery Hours 6 PM - Late Music starts Downstairs at 8 PM Free | All Ages Free beer courtesy of our friends New Belgium Brewing starts at 8 PM BORROWED LIGHT Traveling through camera and brush, Cori and Nathanael harvest light—capturing moments of interaction and transformation. Arising from their mutual passion for movement and the human figure, “Borrowed Light” is a glimpse into their shared world. A place where light bends and bodies blend. Cori Storb wanders around the earth alone. She finds forgotten wild lands and captures her interactions with these places. She can often be found trailing 30 yards of fabric through the desert or running barefoot through the mud, as her loyal camera snaps up these strange moments. With a background in representational painting and drawing, Nathanael Volckening explores archetypal and often feminine "formscapes" which he describes as "windows into the sublime unconscious." With every image, an invitation is made—an opportunity to explore one’s own internal environment. The Social Animals are a full time, van-living young band. They speak through elegantly sarcastic, thoughtful lyrics with memorable melodies splattered across a canvas of indie rock instrumentation. They don't do backflips at their live shows or slide across their knees into guitar solos. Instead, they play their music passionately and honestly, carrying both the intensity to move feet and the delicacy to keep them still. Between songs, their dry commentary on the status of their lives and the world around them appeals to the type of person who, perhaps, spends time actually reading through a band bio. Releasing their debut EP, "Formative Years" in late summer of 2016, The Social Animals have laid a sturdy foundation for the character and direction of the band. Songs like "Let Me Go" marry the grittiness of an honest band cramped in a Chevy Express with the pop sensibility of Tom Petty. "I Guess In America" offers a tongue-in-cheek outlook on the process of dealing with personal sadness under the seemingly comfortable umbrella of the U.S., and the privileges (or lack thereof) that come with it. Unlike the shaky uneasiness of their V8 engine, these boys show no signs of stopping. Climbing from the gurgling depths of Wal-Mart parking lots and rattling beer cans, the band sits calmly atop the rubble with a full-length album in their back pocket. Recorded almost completely live at Modest Mouse's "Ice Cream Party Studios," the album is poised to make 2017 the most promising year of the band's career. Produced with help from Steve Berlin (Los Lobos, Deer Tick), the album, coined "Early Twenties," builds upon the groundwork of "Formative Years" and takes the band to new places both physically and sonically. Dedric Clark: Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar. Tony Petersen: Harmony Vocals, Electric Guitar, Banjo. Roger Whittet: Harmony Vocals, Bass. Boyd Smith: Drums.
